100 Days of Sunlight REVIEW

Thursday, August 8, 2019

I've had the pleasure of ARC reading Abbie Emmons's book, 100 Days of Sunlight. If you want to bring some sunshine into your life you need to read this book. It's a must.

Abbie has been one of my blogging friends since I started blogging. I had found her blog years back through the blogging community and ever since then, I have been rooting for her. Abbie is one of the most inspirational humans I know. Becuase I adore her as a person, I knew her book would bring just as much greatness into the world as she does.

I was right.

Here is the book's synopsis:

"When 16-year-old poetry blogger Tessa Dickinson is involved in a car accident and loses her eyesight for 100 days, she feels like her whole world has been turned upside-down.

Terrified that her vision might never return, Tessa feels like she has nothing left to be happy about. But when her grandparents place an ad in the local newspaper looking for a typist to help Tessa continue writing and blogging, an unlikely answer knocks at their door: Weston Ludovico, a boy her age with bright eyes, an optimistic smile…and no legs.

Knowing how angry and afraid Tessa is feeling, Weston thinks he can help her. But he has one condition — no one can tell Tessa about his disability. And because she can’t see him, she treats him with contempt: screaming at him to get out of her house and never come back. But for Weston, it’s the most amazing feeling: to be treated like a normal person, not just a sob story. So he comes back. Again and again and again.

Tessa spurns Weston’s “obnoxious optimism”, convinced that he has no idea what she’s going through. But Weston knows exactly how she feels and reaches into her darkness to show her that there is more than one way to experience the world. As Tessa grows closer to Weston, she finds it harder and harder to imagine life without him — and Weston can’t imagine life without her. But he still hasn’t told her the truth, and when Tessa’s sight returns he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life: vanish from Tessa’s world…or overcome his fear of being seen. "

The characters are crafted beautifully in this book. I fell in love with each of them as they took me on a journey through their lives. The relationship Tessa and Weston have is something so special. Tessa and Weston as you'll find out when you pick of this book are humans. They are characters that anyone can relate to. (They've become my new favorite fictional characters.)

I don't have the words to explain how much I've enjoyed this book. One of the things I loved the most was connecting the book's cover art to events in the book. Just imagine me going back and forth from cover to story as I read and wondered if that was a detail in the cover art.

THIS BOOK IS ABOUT HOPE, OVERCOMING CHALLENGES, FAMILY, FRIENDS, BEING VULNERABLE, MAKING THE BEST OF SITUATIONS, AND ENJOYING THE LITTLE THINGS.

From the cover of the book to the story, this book is a true work of art. We must all thank Abbie Emmon's writing and creatively beautiful mind for creating a book that is truly a 5/5!
