Catching Up With V // New URL

After seeing Julia's post on the Boho wraps I HAD to put one in my hair. The morning after she wrote this I walked into the bathroom with scissors thread, and ready hands. I love how it turned out! Thank's for posting this Julia!

Kitty. That's what I call the neighborhood cat that rooms around the apartments in the afternoon. Recently I have been hanging out with this cat and taking pictures of it. (I say it because I have no clue whether it's a female or male)

Oatmeal!!! No, actually this is almost a step above oatmeal. It's overnight oats with cinnamon, banana's and blueberries. One of my favorite breakfasts of all times. I have been also eating a lot more healthy.

I have been also getting together with two of my closest friends. On Wednesday we went to the park with Jamie's siblings for a picnic. We played on the playground, played hide and seek, did the yoga challenge, ate lot's of ice lollies and just overall had a wonderful time blending in with the children.

Exercising and staying active in the heat is so hard, but I am trying to keep active by running when I can paddling, and doing workout videos through youtube.

I've been on Instagram a lot today. I have been following more bloggers on there. It really is a great way to make more personal bonds with everyone in the blogger community. I didn't realise how many of you have Instagram until now. There's also a fresh coat of black polish on my nails.

I can't figure out what to do with this driftwood. I have been thinking about it for the last couple of days but nothing has stood out to me. If you have any ideas please let me know!

There is no photo for this one, but I have been getting ready to take classes in the fall by taking the placement test and checking in with everyone about college related things. I can't believe I will be in college. Yesterday (this shows how unresponsible I am sometimes) I forgot the password to log into my college account and had to call the office for them to verify I was who I said I was so they could help me reset the password. I didn't think I would need a laptop for this but boy was I wrong. I had to turn on my laptop in the middle of the call. This made for awkward silence until the person on the phone decided to ask me about the weather and I asked about plans they had afterwards apologizing for how long this was taking and them telling me as long as it takes less than 36 minutes it was fine. We fixed it though!

The biggest news of all...I GOT MY OWN BLOG URL!!! Today was the day I finally bought my blog's URL! I love it so much! BUT it was such a struggle to find a name that wasn't being used. Simplyme was taken which is a little sad but I think I have a blog URL I like a whole lot better. www.itssimplyme.com Guys. I am so excited about this. SO SOO SOOO EXCITED!

Camping on Highway 18

What a camping trip! No, seriously this was an interesting experience. It's the first time I have gone camping in someone's backyard, set up a tent at 11pm, and had no bathroom. As well as pick blackberries on the side of the road, washing leggings in the river, and get woken up by passing cars. The pictures pretty much sum of the trip. The only thing you don't see is my phone. I left it off the whole trip to disconnect with the social media world and connect with the real one. Sooooo, camping is now checked off my summer to do list! Lauren, who is in the last picture was pretty happy to go home and be able to use the bathroom.

Now that I am home I can finally relax. I have plans that involve reading blogs and rocky road ice cream!

What did you do this weekend?  I would love to know!
Much Love,

If I Were A Beauty Blogger

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Lip Plumping Gloss- 14.00

I couldn't resist buying this 14 dollar lipgloss! It's a little more pricey than I would have liked to spend on gloss but, I had read some reviews on this Pillow Plumping Gloss and I thought I'd treat myself and give it a go!

A little about this product: This product claims to give you fuller looking lips in a matter of minutes. The ingredients in it help pump your lips, giving it the "pillow effect" while keeping them soft and hydrated. " Lips are left lustrous, moisturized, and looking perfectly plumped!"(Soap and Glory)

Packaging: Personally, I am a huge fan of the packaging, The box and tube design are both a 5/5. The applicator the gloss comes out of isn't plastic but instead, it's rubber which helps an insane amount when applying this product to your lips.

Feel and Smell: The magical gloss is like no other gloss I have tried. It tingles strongly for the first 20 minutes and an hour in total! After a few minutes of applying the gloss, you will feel as if a million chocolate scented ladybugs are kissing you lips, it's very sensational. This gloss is not sticky, it's smooth. 4.5/5!

Durability: Unfortunately, no gloss that I know of lasts very long. This gloss lasts a good 2 to 3 hours, all depending on what you're doing and if there's wind to dry it out. 3/5!

Color: I got mine in the color PinkWell. As you can see from the swatch it's pretty sheer but ultra shiny which I like in a gloss. i would rate the color a 3/5

Overall: This one's a 3.75/5 for me. Did the product make my lips look more full? After applying and waiting 20 minutes for it to do it's magic my lips looked slightly fuller. Do they feel more hydrated? YES, they really do. Would you buy this product again? I'm not sure, I do love the tingly feeling, but the price hurts me! No idea. Would you recommend this to your awesome readers? If you have 14 dollars and feel like treating your lips to something special, I recommend getting this.

Inspiration: Guilianna Marie and Grace

Your first thought was probably what is this? Well to answer your question, I am starting a new series where I try out different blogging styles. Look forward to more posts like this one. I am going out of town to camp tomorrow through Monday so I will be catching up with everyone as soon as I get back. Along with a follow-up of the trip! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Much love,

Q and A Answers!

Let's just get right into the questions (:

What does a day in your life look like?
Every day is different for me, but I always find comfort in my mornings. No, I am not a morning person, but I love my morning routine. I wake up around eight or nine in the morning and the first thing I do is remember what I dreamt about. As I am thinking about that I make breakfast, sit at the table, and write my dream down. Then I do one of two things, I go running or look through blogs posts. The rest of the day varies from going on day trips, paddling, or having a lazy day at home.

What would you like to accomplish in your life?
Independence. I'm not a very independent person but I want to be!

What would be your most favorite blogs?

What do you feel like is the most important part of blogging?
For me, it's being able to write down my experiences and thoughts so I can look back at them later in life. That's the sole purpose of this blog.

What have you been up to lately?
A LOT of paddling! My team has been getting ready for our all women's race in Seattle. Dragon boating and outrigger all the time.

Who takes your pictures? The ones with you in it?
My sister takes the pictures of me. It's a huge struggle! She is not a photographer one in ten of every picture she takes looks okay XD. I take all the other pictures.

What is your favorite word?
SUPERCALIFRAFILISTICEXIALIDOCIOUS! You have no idea how much fun it is to respond with this in text, it throws people off.

What is the best gift you have ever received?
My camera. It was a gift I bought with the money I got for my 15th birthday. My camera has definitely taken me many places and shown me how to look at the world a little differently.

What are you favorite songs currently?
Fire and the Flood- Vance Joy
Let me be- Charlie Brennan

What was the last book you read and what you thought of it?
Along For the Ride by Sarah Dessen. This was the second time I have read this book which means it must be good because I am not the kind of person to read a book more than once, I have a thing for romance books and novels.

Which country would you most like to visit?
Can I visit them all?

What is your favorite 'Classic' film, that you have watched?
The Wizard of Oz! I watched this so many times when I was younger always hiding from the Tin Man and the Lion when they appeared.

What is your favorite 'Classic' Book, that you have read?
Adaline Falling Star by Mary Pope Osborne. When I was little my dad started reading this book to me, he stopped reading it to me before we got halfway, but I read the rest on my own and loved it.

What is your guilty pleasure song?
Backseat- New Boyz
Sexy B****- David Guetta
Only Girl (In The World)- Rihanna
I have some pretty funny memories with these old pop songs. 2011 pop was my thing.

What is a fashion style you thought you'd never like, that you now do?
Colorful workout clothes and yoga pants. Younger me tried to dress with less colorful workout clothes, now I think my workout clothes are more colorful than my casual wear.

Black or pink?
Black. I am that person who wears dark clothes throughout summer...

If you could go to lunch with three bloggers, who would you pick and where would you go?
You all are invited! I can't list only three bloggers, you all are so special to me. A picnic kind of potluck would be a lot of fun, especially in summer!

What is your fondest memory?
Playing in the creek with all my friends in the summer. That's something I miss doing but am grateful to have done. We use to walk up and down the creek, have mud fights, and catch water bugs.

What is your dream job?
I can't answer this question! I am trying to figure that out right now. There are so many options that I have no clue what I want to do. #overwhelmed

Three things you can't live without?
1-Running shoes
2-A quiet place
3-And my sister, even if she is a pain sometimes.

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
I have no clue... in ten years I would be 29, I would hope that I would have found a steady job, and be married. This question just put a million thoughts into my mind. Which is also why I love being asked questions like this, they put your life into perspective and allow you to learn more about who you are as a person!

A quick and sweet thank you to everyone who commented questions, this post is possible because of you all! <3

Much love,
Vanessa

Home? Yes, Indeed.

Up until I was about 12 I lived in a house that seemed pretty similar to a castle. This place was my home. As I grew up I grew more and more attached to this magical place. It was a huge house in the middle of a forest that had a creek. There were more than enough trees to climb and lots of good hiding spots. Leaving this place was one of the devastating things I have had to do.

I hate where I live now.  I really, really, really, don't like where I live now. The managers describe the place I live in as a townhouse, but you can tell me that all you want, it's still an apartment to me.

Here is a list of the things I dis-love about this place:
-The kitchen is small (which means there is no counter space)
-The oven in the kitchen is too old to use
-Only two of the four burners work
-The toilet leaks
-There are no washers and dryers (The community laundry mat is so disgusting that this could almost be another bullet.)
-My neighbors smoke (They also seem quite shady)
-The deck has an awful view
-I can't- NO. I am done.

Those are plenty of reasons that this place sucks. I have been holding on for two years now. This apartment sucks. I am ashamed to tell people this place. I mask the embarrassment with humor, poking jokes at a place like this. I only dream of the day I will live in a house similar to when I was a child. A home.

BUT
Here I am calling a dumpy old apartment my home. When I call this place my home I am not thinking of the way it was built or the list of things that annoy me... I am thinking about the things I love that are within the structure.

Here is a list of the things I love that are in this house:
-My mom
-My sister
-Plenty of food
-A safe place where I can let my guard down
-The bed I sleep in and the blankets that cover me
-The comfort this place brings me
-The fact that I am sheltered from the world behind the walls

These things make all the houses I have lived in a home. I share this with you because this is real.

Much love,
Vanessa

Wild Berries

A memory from this weekend's beach trip that I didn't get a picture of:

"Would you look at that, it's a wild berry!" I said as I rushed over to a bush along the side of the neighborhood my sister and I decided to walk about.

My sister who was not long behind me, followed me to the bush spotted with florescent pink berries. She looked at the bush with skeptical eyes, "I dare you to eat one!"

Eagerly I plucked the berry off the bush and threw it in my mouth. It tasted stronger than the raspberries I pick at all summer long and dissolved in my mouth in seconds. My sister, Lauren, started to laugh while she told me that might have been a stupid thing to do.

We continued walking through the small lake neighborhood keeping an eye out for anything that stood out to us. To our contentment, we found a blackberry bush with one in every 10 green berries painted black. "The neighbors are probably looking out their windows talking about how weird we are," my sister said. I looked at the house in front of us and shrugged, not caring what the neighbors thought. As we were ducking down and getting on our tiptoes to see if there were any more blackberries we missed we spotted more pink in the background. I bounced right were the pink was and grabbed at least 15 more of the berries. "THIMBLEBERRIES!" The word almost seemed to jump up and down in the air with excitement as I recalled the name of the delicate pink berries. The thrill of eating a berry you think is edible was entertaining.

Towards what we thought was the end of our walk we found a bush with dark blue berries that accessorized the small light green leafs. Taking a closer look I found out the berries that were the size of beads were huckleberries. We savored the taste of the huckleberries as they broke through their shells and stained our teeth.

The two of us walked back to the house that sat on a lake with tummies full of sweet summer wild berries.

What do you think of my writing?
What's your perfect summer moment like?
Much love,
Vanessa

July Goals/ 100 followers

I made it to my unannounced goal of 100 followers and I am very proud of the progress I have made on my blog!! The support each one of you gives me makes me glad I am still blogging. With that being said, I want to thank everyone who follows my blog, it means so much to me. The other day I was thinking about my future and I always see blogging in it. Looking into my future is like looking through the fog, most of it is unclear, but if you look closely you can make out a few things. Blogging is something that I can see through the fog. Blogging will always be a huge part of who I am as an individual.

There is really no way to transition from something this heartfelt to my July goals. I have tried to make a smooth transition, but it's not going to happen.

Here we are. It's July.

ME.

This month I really want to focus on my well-being. Myself. This month I am talking a break and doing more things that make me happy. I want to try doing more yoga and stretching to ease any stress I might have about up coming events. I am also going to try a lot harder to get back into the habit of clean eating. Over the past few weeks I haven't felt the best about what I am putting into my body so clean eating this month should really help me feel better about that. Me is only goal I have for myself this month because I am trying to put a huge emphasis on myself, I'm looking forward to this almost one month retreat!

Much love,
Vanessa
