10 Things To Say Instead of "I'm Sorry."

When apologizing:
1. I understand what I did was wrong, please forgive me. I didn't mean to upset you and I apologize for hurting you.

2. What can I do to make you trust me again? I know what I did wasn't right

3. Can we start over?

For death:
4. What can I do to make you feel better?

5. I know it's hard to lose someone but things will get better. I sympathize for your loss.

6. Give them a HUG!!!

When you upset your parents:
7. Mom/Dad/ Both I know what I did upset you, and your disappointed in me, I am too. I won't do what I did again. I love you and I apologize for my mistake.

Teacher and late work:
8. Mr./ Mrs. I did something wrong. I was going through a hard time (for this part think of something on your own) I would be so grateful if you took a look at my paper.

Best friends:
9. Buy them their favorite food/ candy/food and give them a hug, tell them how much they mean to you!!!

10. Write them a note telling them you apologize and why you love them so much.

Much love,
Vanessa

  1. Thank you!! The word 'sorry' can be so annoying some times, like, explain why you're sorry at least right?

    Great post Vanessa!

    1. Really!!! Who would have thought such a simple word with so much meaning could become meaningless.

  3. Thanks for somewhat reminding me that 'sorry' has been so overused that it's begun to sound like the generic, look-better answer to everything. If I said that apology to my parents though they still wouldn't listen :')

    1. Great parenting there. Teaching kids that sorry doesn't mean a lot. As annoying as it can be it looks as if it would help you in life!

  5. Great post. 'Sorry' is just so overused that I feel people have actually forgotten that it's not just a word but an action and a feeling. Such a timely reminder for me too as I find myself saying "sorry" when I can't think of the right thing to say.

    1. Yes exactly! The same thing happens with the words love and thank you. Those are (love how you said this) emotions that are feelings.

  6. VANESSA. This is a fabulous list!! And something I definitely need in my life. I usually tend to cop-out and be immature by calling myself "stupid" or "a failure" and nobody wants to hear that. I mean, this is my time to apologize to them and I tend to just make it a pity party for me. UGH. #problems

Anyway thank you for this. ♥

  9. Yes, I need some replacements for "sorry". I kind of find it hard to sympathize with people, and know what to say when they share something that has hurt them...

Also, I just tagged you! I'm not sure if you do tags, but you can check it out here, if you like: http://jessicalg97.blogspot.com.au/2016/02/tagged-times-three.html
