Rose Festival 2015

Dragon Boating the weekend of the 6th and 7th went well. Although the team did not win any medals, we took out a lot of the adult teams that thought they were "the shit". I had to be up at 6am each day to be at the tent site at 7am. I came a little late the first day which was okay but because later I found out I was voted team captain for the race, it didn't look so good. I am so glad the team thinks of me as a leader because two years ago I was trying really hard to become a paddler and now I am a leader. My accomplishments amaze me.

I was flag catcher for the first day. I have never flag caught a flag in a race but our flag catcher could only make it one of the days and I stepped up to flag catch. It was so much fun and I am glad that I got the chance to do it! It's really something else being up on the head of the dragon going out for the flag as another boat tails behind you.

The team did well overall, we didn't win but for the second race this year we didn't do bad. The teams focus got better with each coming race which is really important! One of my favorite moments is when we had to wait to be marshaled for a race and we all took that time to go over race starts instead of talking. Shows me that the teams ready for the next step. That race we got first place by 0.11 milliseconds. Wow, close call but glad we were very focused.

I'd say this weekend was good and now that it's Thursday, I have one more day of junior year, I am sleep deprived and can't wait to be done with school so I can get about 15 posts in a month. ONE DAY MORE!

  2. It looks amazing! I would really like to see these kind of boats sometime in real life. I learn Chinese and hope to go and visit China as soon as possible. xx
